Courtesy of the seafood lover in me (that’s all of me by the way), I always crave a classic fish fillet sandwich. Every time I eat one, I think to myself, “God, bless the person who thought to bread and fry a fillet of fish, top it with melted cheese, pickles, tartar sauce, and put it in between two buttered buns. What a blessing.” A fish fillet sandwich can change your life. I know from personal experience. I’ve had lots of fish fillet sandwiches, and true fish fillet-ers know, the ones that leave an impression all have one thing in common: amazing tartar sauce. The twangier the better, baby. To feed my craving, I decided to make a fish fillet wrap instead.
I cut a couple of codfish fillets into nuggets, seasoned and breaded them, then air-fried them. Once they were done, I melted a slice of cheese over the fish and put them in a couple of pieces of romaine lettuce. Topped the wraps with pico de gallo and my experimental tartar sauce (which was bomb by the way). This fish fillet wrap and homemade tartar is a guilt-free rendition of my favorite sandwich. Once I get my tartar sauce measurements together, I’ll post the recipe for inquiring minds. Because above all, the tartar sauce is the most important element.
