HAND ROLLS & ART EXHIBITS

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon enjoying two of my favorite things: hand rolls and art exhibits. I started with an early dinner at my favorite, Handies Douzo, a cozy little restaurant in the Houston Heights area. Hands down, Handies makes some of the best Japanese hand rolls I’ve ever had. Presentation is always on point, the seafood is always fresh, service is always great, and I’m always more than elated with everything…especially the Negitoro with bowfin caviar.

My next stop was Mitochondria Gallery to view the opening of Stride and Serenity. I randomly came across Mitochondria Gallery on Instagram after seeing their invitation to the opening of the Dawn exhibit. What I love about this gallery, in particular, is that their collections specifically feature contemporary art from African artists and artists of the African diaspora. These pieces are truly unique and pictures do not do them any justice. I appreciate art galleries like Mitochondria for specializing in this genre of art and connecting black and African artists with art enthusiasts like myself.
