A SATURDAY WELL SPENT

Art, books, good food… and any day is a good day to wear something I crocheted.

I spent this Saturday roaming about Houston, doing some of my favorite things. First up was Sanman Studios to see A Moment to Rmbr by Charles Louis Middleton III, a beautiful exhibition bringing together surrealist works and portraits created during his three years abroad. Two things I appreciate most about Charles’ work: the large scale and the depth in his subjects’ eyes.

Next stop was just a few steps away at The Reading Room to flip through books on Black art and culture. I could literally spend hours looking through all those pages, but I’d worked up an appetite. Across the street at Buried Seeds, I found myself enjoying a glass of red wine with hummus and chips while flipping through a few more books. I could get lost on this side of town.

My last stop of the night was one of my favorite spots, Tiny Champions! Three things I will always order: hamachi crudo, Caesar salad, and the fried quail… and that’s just to start.

All in all, a Saturday well spent.
